“At the [2021] CMT Awards, I think there was five of us that got honored that night and I met Chris Stapleton on the carpet,” Barrett told Audacy’s Katie Neal. Typically one to hold her composure, Barrett said her admiration and excitement took over at the sight of Stapleton and she freaked out a little… but honestly, who wouldn’t?!

“I think I came on a little strong,” Gabby admitted, describing their meeting. “I was like, ‘Hi Chris! Oh my gosh, it’s so nice to meet you, I’m such big fan!!’ And he was like, ‘Yes ma’am,’” she explained while imitating Chris, looking down and shaking his head.
“You can tell they [Stapleton and his wife, Morganne] are just like, very simple, humble, just Country people.”
The moment was a big one for Gabby, who says she hopes to collaborate musically with Stapleton one day. “He’s one of like, my dream people in Country music to do a duet with or work with.”
While she may have to wait a little longer for that collab. Barrett is currently celebrating new some new music, including her new single to Country radio, “Pick Me Up.”
“I just really like this song,” she said. “I didn’t have a laid back Country song exactly — just in my list of songs that I’ve written — and I wanted one. I always just write from a perspective that’s staying true to my life.”
Barrett’s life is about to turn up a notch as she readies to hit the road with Jason Aldean as direct support on his Rock N’ Roll Cowboy Tour, kicking off this summer.
“We’ve actually been going over a lot of stage setups,” Gabby shared. “I’m actually in the direct slot… I’m very blessed to have that opportunity that he put me there.” One of the things she says she’s most looking forward to is using more stage space to keep things fresh and interesting for her fans.
