As we begin to wind down our our Celebrations In Pride series, we not only remember that Pride is something to acknowledge year round, but Audacy asked some of our favorite Alternative artists what to say to someone who is struggling to come out.

Check out the powerful answers from K.FLAY, phem, morgxn, Max Ernst of SHAED, and Rina Sawayama as we continue to highlight the amazing diversity, creativity, and ingenuity of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Celebrate Pride on Audacy with your favorite LGBTQ+ anthems, podcasts, and more right here.

“It’s really important to remember that there’s no one way to come out. There’s no right way to come out, and everybody has a different story of how their life unfolds.”

“Make sure that you’re completely comfortable and you feel ready. Don’t feel pressured by anybody else and make sure that you’re coming out to a person or a group of people that are going to meet you wholeheartedly with love and support.”

“I wish someone had told me this…you don’t have to rush. Coming out is not a one-time event and it is not something that happens and then it's all over. Coming out is like an onion, where you have one layer that you peel off and then all the sudden you discover you have like a whole other layer that exists.”

“If someone isn’t ready to come out to their family or friends, find someone you can talk to online, find a therapist, an online support group, just anyone that you can open up to and talk about your feelings with.”

“I think it’s okay to take your time, don’t feel pressured, as long as you have a close-knit group of friends, or some people online that you can speak to, I think there really is no rush to come out.”
