The cast of 'Matilda' then and now

Mara Wilson recently appeared on TCM for the channel’s series about child actors to discuss the work of Elizabeth Taylor, as well as her own experience. Like all child actors, she felt immense pressure. After starring in “Mrs. Doubtfire” and the remake of “Miracle on 34th Street,” Wilson left acting in 2000, and eventually returned on her own terms.

(The couple split in 2017 but remain married.)

Rhea Perlman was already uber-famous for her role on “Cheers” before she got to “Matilda.” Since the film she has stayed busy with a range of projects on TV, film, and the stage.

Beyond “Matilda,” Embeth Davidtz’s film credits include big titles like “Schindler’s List” and “Bicentennial Man,” as well as recurring roles on TV series like “Mad Men” and “Ray Donovan.”

Since playing the even Trunchbull in “Matilda,” Pam Ferris has popped up all over movies where fans may spot her, from “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban” to “Children of Men” to 2019’s “Tolkien.”
