"Listen, I didn't want to get married. I didn't want to have kids,” the Oscar winner said on “WTF with Marc Maron” podcast, before revealing how meeting his future wife Amal Clooney had him recalibrate his life plans.

“And then this extraordinary human being walked into my life and I just fell madly in love. Then I knew from the minute I met her that everything was going to be different.”

After marrying in 2014, the couple eventually decided to expand their family, but were surprised to find out they were having twins.

"I didn't know I'd have twins," he continued. "There is that moment when you go to the doctor and they pull out this piece of paper which is a sonogram and they go, 'Here' and you go, 'It's a baby boy.' I'm like, 'Baby boy, fantastic. And then they said, 'And the other one is the girl' and I was like, 'Oh s***.' "

In 2017, the Clooneys welcomed their daughter, Ella, and son, Alexander.

Clooney noted how much he loves being a father now, especially because he thought it was not in the cards.

He added: “I have to say it was very emotional because I really was convinced that wasn't my lot in life and was comfortable with that.”

Earlier this month, the actor released an open letter asking the media to not publish photos of his children.

Clooney specifically referenced how publishing paparazzi pictures of their children's faces puts them in jeopardy due to Amal’s job dealing with “trial terrorist groups.”

“We would request that you refrain from putting our children's faces in your publication. I am a public figure and accept the oftentimes intrusive photos as part of the price to pay for doing my job. Our children have made no such commitment,” Clooney wrote. “The nature of my wife's work has her confronting and putting on trial terrorist groups and we take as much precaution as we can to keep our family safe.”

“We cannot protect our children if any publication puts their faces on their cover. We have never sold a picture of our kids, we are not on social media and never post pictures because to do so would put their lives in jeopardy,” Clooney added. “Not paranoid jeopardy but real world issues, with real world consequences.”
