Towards the end of the show, the Emcee challenged award show-goers to a game of music trivia. Questlove would play the song in question as Lil Rel asked celebrities whether certain songs were nominated or won an Oscar. Andra Day weighed in on Prince’s “Purple Rain,” and Daniel Kaalyua struggled to recall whether Donna Summer’s “Last Dance” snagged any trophies, while Glenn Close teased the actor for being too young to know Summer’s music.
Finally, the trivia game concluded with an interaction between Lil Rel and Glenn, where the famed actress quickly identified “Da Butt” as the song in question and promptly danced along to the hit made famous by Spike Lee’s School Daze.
The Hillbilly Elegy actress provided the biggest viral moment to come out of the evening, however after being nominated eight times at the Oscars she still has not won.
Kaluuya brought home the trophy for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the biographical drama, Judas and the Black Messiah. Additionally, Andra Day was nominated for Best Actress for her depiction of Billie Holiday in The United States vs. Billie Holiday.
