Pulling inspiration from vintage monster movies, the technicolor visual follows the band as they encounter a giant, laser-eyed Kraken-like creature played by the song’s featured guest, British singer Leee John, who destroys the island before receding back into the sea. But not before the Gorillaz escape through a giant wormhole in the sky, catapulting them to their next adventure.

Throughout this crazy and difficult year, Gorillaz have managed to not only release new music, but also follow through with music videos and virtual concerts. Making their latest and most likely last announcement of the year with the release of episode 9. “2020 – one of the most challenging years in human history,” Gorillaz tweeted this week. “But somehow, against all odds, with the help of you and the extended Gorillaz family, we still managed to make our own little piece of history. Thanks for your patience, and for believing in Gorillaz.”

For those saddened by the series coming to an end, this might not be the last time that Gorillaz fans will get to take a dip in the Plastic Beach. Earlier this year, Damon Albarn revealed that he’s considering making a sequel to that beloved project, and he also announced that a Song Machine feature film is in the works.

In the meantime, check out “The Lost Chord” below and then re-watch them all until we get some news about smoothing new.
