Gwen Stefani surprised fans, and even us, with the picture of a "first tattoo." Turns out, we let the excitement get away from us. RADIO.COM originally reported this was Gwen's first ink, but it turns out she was just supporting her fans, like Gwen always does.
The No Doubt singer posted a picture to her Instagram story of a fresh tattoo. The picture reveals a flush red rose tattoo with small accent leaves, and a scrolled out statement above and below the flower reading, “BORN TO BLOSSOM / BLOOM TO PERISH.”
Stefani confused fans who read into her bottom line text. “My proudest lyric given to me by the man upstairs,” she writes in reference to the rose. Those are lyrics to her popular 2004 track "What You Waiting For," but the scribe turns out to be on a fan.

History shows Gwen’s noted aversion towards putting ink to skin. During a 2017 interview with Entertainment Tonight she said: "I don’t know, I feel like my niece just got a bunch of tattoos and I'm really mad at her, she's 21. I'm like, 'What are you doing?'" Some time passed and it seems she warmed up to the idea.
"I like tattoos. If my kids wanted to get one, I would hope that we could talk about what it is so that we don't have big regrets in the future.”
2020 has been an eventful year for The Voice host. Longtime boyfriend Blake Shelton finally proposed with a gorgeous ring that put fans into a tizzy. “@blakeshelton yes please! 💍🙏🏻 gx,” Stefani captioned alongside a snap shot of the couple kissing. Gwen keeps her left hand center frame to show off the engagement ring. The picture doesn’t do the rock much justice, but believe us, it’s a special ring.
She also celebrated the 25th anniversary of No Doubt’s genre-defining 1995 album Tragic Kingdom.
