Helped By North Carolina Group During Sandy, New Jersey Woman Pays It Forward During Florence

TOMS RIVER, N.J. (WCBS 880) -- A North Carolina group that helped out after Superstorm Sandy will soon be on the receiving end of some much-needed assistance in the wake of Florence.

When the Jersey Shore was devastated by Sandy in 2012, the North Carolina Baptist Men arrived – seemingly sent by God.

"They did free mold remediation. They did free repairs. They helped in rebuild," said Joan DeLucia of Toms River.

More importantly, DeLucia said, they provided hope.

"While hope is still free, I don't know if everybody understands in a disaster how invaluable it is," she said.

Now, DeLucia is working to repay those good deeds.

"Packing trucks to bring them down to the Carolinas once the water recedes," she said.

DeLucia said it is important to let flood victims know they are not alone.
