Julia Markham Cameron, a lawyer from Brooklyn, became a "Jeopardy!" champion on Thursday night, but it wasn’t her smarty-pants trivia knowledge that gained the most attention.
It was the quirky faces she pulled throughout the competition.
Unlike the somewhat stoic demeanor of many a Jeopardy champ, Cameron bent her face around into a myriad of shocked and awed looks.
One Twitter user even did the great societal service of editing Cemron’s jittery ticks into a highlight clip.
Jeopardy’s fanbase is already fevered enough — toss a manic champ like this in the mix, and the Twitter reactions go off like someone bashing that answer button.
One commenter enthused: "Julia might be my fave contestant ever on Jeopardy!!!"
Another exclaimed: "Okay... Julia on Jeopardy is the cutest and most human contestant ever.”
Another got a bit snarkier: “Didn’t they say she was a lawyer? I’d love to see her make those faces to the judge!”
And yet another surmised that maybe Cameron is in on the joke. “Julia knows you’re in love with her.”
But of course, there’s always a curmudgeon in the bunch. "Julia’s on my nerves,” one annoyed user wrote.
We’re guessing Cameron had little time for any judgement of her visage. She was too busy counting her $16,000 winnings and earned the chance to return for Friday's show — where she won again! Her two-day total prize so far is $26,250. There's a number to make a face at!
It’s too bad Saturday Night Live’s season is over, because considering Cameron’s slight resemblance to SNL’s hilarious master impersonator, Melissa Villasenor, she’d no doubt whip up a parody skit for this week’s episode.
Cameron’s possibly self-aware funny faces are a refreshing respite from the often socially awkward brainiacs who dominate Jeopardy. The show itself is still juggling guest hosts, as the game show world waits with bated breath for who will take over for longtime favorite, Alex Trebek, who passed away in November last year.
