When Joaquin Phoenix took on the role of "Joker" back in 2019, fans were hoping it was just the start.

While nothing is official, fans are already starting to wonder when they will get to see Phoenix’s Joker battle against Batman.

Joaquin Phoenix’s performance as Arthur Fleck, a failed clown and stand-up comedian who later becomes the Joker, was good enough to earn the actor an Academy Award for Best Actor in 2019. However, Phoenix recently claimed there is more to be discovered in the role, leading many fans to wonder if a sequel is on the way.

“This is an interesting guy. There are some things we could do with this guy and could [explore] further. But as to whether we actually will? I don’t know,” Phoenix told The Playlist.

When asked point-blank whether the recent “Joker 2” rumors were true, Phoenix just shrugged. “I dunno.”

When asked about his previous reticence to play in a kind of superhero blockbuster, that kind of thing, Phoenix slyly responded, “What kind of thing? Interesting character, interesting movie?” he asked with a smile.

According to NME, ‘The Joker’ made over $1 billion globally, becoming the highest grossing R-rated film of all time.

Director Todd Phillips has reportedly been working on a script for a sequel, but nothing has been confirmed. However, with Phoenix seemingly on board, fans should expect to see more Joker soon enough.
