LISTEN NOW: Lady London talks S.O.U.L.

Feeling “blessed” but “a little nervous” about the release of S.O.U.L., Lady London shared, “I feel like I’m birthing my brainchild into the world.”

Explaining how she found her lane, and particular way of storytelling with her music, London said, “I love the idea of a narrative in anything, like if you watch most of my music videos they have like some type of narration or some type of sequence to it.”

She continued, “I’m heavily inspired by Slick Rick, I think his ability to story tell was so dope, as a pioneer of rap music. And then I of course went on to be a big fan of JAY-Z, who literally has 13 studio albums of showing you the course of his life, or the evolution of his life. And I believe, myself, I’m ever evolving, so I just love telling stories, and I hope that that becomes kind of the pillar of how I approach rap music.”

Discussing what it was like to lose over 17,000 hours worth of music when her hard drive broke, Lady admitted that despite that heartbreak and needing to tell herself whatever she could to get through it, the end resulted in what she would honestly say is her “best work thus far.”

“It’s really a cohesive body of work and it just represents me on every element, cause it’s versatile but cohesive.”

Lady London also talked zodiac signs, fashion, her view on rap, and more. To hear everything Lady London had to say, listen to the entire interview above.
