Sir Ian McKellen has a sharp message for the coronavirus: You shall not pass!

The 81-year old British actor was part of one of the first groups of people to be vaccinated against COVID-19 in the United Kingdom.

This week, the “Lord of the Rings” star tweeted a picture of himself getting inoculated against the novel virus, writing that he feels “very lucky to have had the vaccine.” He continued, sharing that he “would have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone.”

In an interview with iTV news, the “X-Men” actor praised the National Health Service, sharing that “next time I come, well, no, six days after I next time come I’m going to give them all a big hug — is that allowed?”

The UK approved the use of the Pfizer vaccine, which comes in two doses, on Dec. 2, making Britain the first country in the world to allow widespread use of the vaccine. Mass vaccinations began on Dec. 8, with NHS workers, nursing home staff, and people over 80 becoming the first in line to get the vaccines.

The United States gave the final go-ahead for the Pfizer vaccine last Friday, and aims to distribute vaccines to 100 million Americans by the end of February.

McKellen also shared that he hopes others follow his example and get vaccinated. “I would encourage everybody to do the sensible thing, not just for themselves but for everybody else because if you’re virus-free that helps everybody else, doesn’t it?”
