“Xena” fans are sure to let out a war cry for this.

The show, produced by Lawless, is a light-hearted mystery series. The second series will follow Lawless’ character Alexa as she "investigates the death of a self-help guru and finds herself in a cat-and-mouse game with the victim’s mysterious wife (O’Connor)," according to a press release, per Fox News.
The series, like “Xena,” is filmed in New Zealand.
In “Xena,” Lawless starred as the title character and O’Connor as Gabrielle, the warrior’s princess’s sidekick and best friend, as the two fought evil in the fantasy world that the show was set.
An offshoot of “Hercules: The Legendary Journeys,” “Xena” aired from 1995 to 2001 and has a formidable cult following, in large part for its strong female protagonist.
The two costars spoke to Entertainment Weekly about their experience working together again after 20 years since the “Xena” finale.
Lawless, who is an executive producer on “My Life Is Murder,” said she was determined, “by hook or by crook, now that I'm the boss — one of the bosses," to work with O’Connor.
O’Connor, who hadn’t acted on screen in years, was a little nervous stepping onto the set for the first time.
"It had been a few years since I'd been on a set," O'Connor said. "And it just felt like walking into Lucy's living room and having friends over. It was so charming and loving. And it was like that all the way to the very end. I actually had a little withdrawal when I finished filming."
But overall, the chemistry between the two was “so easy and so good,” Lawless said.
O’Connor agreed. “It was even better than I expected,” she affirmed. "Because these characters were so different from Xena and Gabrielle so there was more to play within current affairs and relationships. And it was all there for the taking. I mean, as I said before, Lucy was throwing stuff out and we were just having more fun than we probably should have been having playing these characters."
The second season of “My Life Is Murder” premieres Aug. 30 on Acorn TV.
