According to an excerpt from the memoir, released by Page Six, Perry shares he was in love with Valerie Bertinelli, who was his co-star on 1990s sitcom, Sydney. Perry decided to “shoot his shot” with the actress by kissing her while her then-husband, legendary Rocker Eddie Van Halen, was passed out drunk just a few feet away.

“I fell madly in love with Valerie Bertinelli, who was clearly in a troubled marriage,” the excerpt reads. “One night, I was over at Valerie and Eddie's house, just hanging out and gazing at Valerie, trying to make her laugh. When you made her laugh, you felt ten feet tall.”

He continued, “It was clear that Eddie had enjoyed the fruits of the vine a little too hard, one more time, and eventually he just passed out, not ten feet away from us. This was my chance! If you think I didn’t actually have a chance in hell you’d be wrong, dear reader – Valerie and I had a long, elaborate make-out session. It was happening – maybe she felt the same way I did."

Perry continued on to share he told Bertinelli he’d “thought about doing that for a long time,” and claiming she returned the same thoughts.

Bertinelli has not released a formal statement regarding Perry’s claims, but many believe a recent social media post paired with lyrics of Taylor Swift’s song, “Anti-Hero,” is her addressing the claims.

“Anyone misbehave in their 20’s and early 30’s? Are you mortified?” The video reads with Bertinelli waving at the camera and then covering her face in embarrassment.
