Meghan Markle, Prince Harry announce birth of their second child and reveal name

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry announced Sunday the birth of their second child, daughter Lilibet "Lili" Diana Mountbatten-Windsor.

The name was chosen as an homage to both Queen Elizabeth, whose family nickname is Lilibet, and Lili's late grandmother, Princess Diana.

According to People, a statement from the couple said, "Lili is named after her great-grandmother, Her Majesty The Queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet. Her middle name, Diana, was chosen to honor her beloved late grandmother, The Princess of Wales."

The child was born at 11:40 am on Friday, June 4th at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital in Santa Barbara, CA. The statement continued, "Both mother and child are healthy and well, and now settling in at home."

Lili weighed in at 7 pounds, 11 ounces at birth.

The statement continued, "The Duke and Duchess thank you for your warm wishes and prayers as they enjoy this special time as a family." No photo of the child was provided.

Lili is sibling to Markle and Harry's 2-year-old son Archie.

Markle and Harry also took to their Archewell website to share the happy news, writing, "On June 4th, we were blessed with the arrival of our daughter, Lili. She is more than we could have ever imagined, and we remain grateful for the love and prayers we've felt from across the globe. Thank you for your continued kindness and support during this very special time for our family."

Lili's birth has been much anticipated since Markle announced her pregnancy back on Valentine's Day. The couple shared at the time, "We can confirm that Archie is going to be a big brother. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are overjoyed to be expecting their second child."
