Nirvana fans are especially fond of the new trend as it is presenting them the opportunity to own never-before-seen photos of Kurt Cobain.

As described in Rolling Stone, Jesse Frohman, the photographer who captured the last photos of Cobain before his death in 1994, recently launched a website to auction off NFTs of more than 100 photos from “The Last Session.”

The thumbnails were made available for shoppers to preview online as of 12PM (ET) on April 28, but only those who purchase the NFT will receive the photos in high-resolution. The auction will begin May 3 at 12PM ET and run through May 7 at 6PM ET.

“Today I’m proud to announce my first NFT drop of iconic images from my photoshoot of Kurt Cobain in 1993,” Frohman wrote on Instagram. “The images, some of which have never been seen, are from Kurt’s final photoshoot six months prior to his passing.”

A portion from all NFTs sold will benefit the JED Foundation, a nonprofit focused on mental well-being of teens in America as well as suicide prevention.

Cobain passed away from suicide at his Seattle home on April 5, 1994. While he had been struggling for some time before his death with drugs and alcohol, the news was a complete shock to friends, family and fans who were hopeful for his recovery.

The icon would've celebrated his 54th birthday earlier this year.
