Nintendo announces star-studded cast for upcoming Mario movie

Nintendo fans have been asking for a movie based on the world of Super Mario Bros for years. Ever since the 1993 film "Super Mario Bros." flopped in theaters, fans have waited to see the franchise get another chance.

Now, it seems that may finally be happening, as the long awaited "Super Mario Bros" animated film recently announced a star-studded cast, and fans couldn’t be more excited.

For months, all Super Mario fans have known is that an animated film was in the works, but now the film’s cast and release date have been revealed.

The star-studded cast includes; Chris Pratt as Mario, Charlie Day as Luigi, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong and Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong. The film is set to be released on December 21, 2022, according to Variety.

“Mario and Luigi are two of the most beloved heroes in all of popular culture, and we are honored to have the unique opportunity to work so closely with Shigeru Miyamoto and the widely imaginative team at Nintendo to bring these characters to life in an animated movie, unlike any film Illumination has made to date,” said producer Chris Meledandri.

Now Mario fans have something real to look forward to.
