Multi-instrumentalist and music producer Jack Thomas lost his right arm in a workplace accident when he was only seventeen.

Now, at 22, he's not only crushing his way through drum covers like this one, Slipknot's "Duality," he's also a motivational speaker who can truly attest to the power of overcoming obstacles.

‘”Sorry, your arm is gone’ is a life-changing phrase for anyone to hear, and a likely career-ending one for a drummer,” percussion purveyor Drumeo says in the video's description. “But after just a few minutes of thinking he’d never play again, he realized that he could either let this overcome him, or he could do whatever he could to overcome it.”

“We all go through hardships,” Thomas says. “We all go through the worst thing that has ever happened to us. For me, it was losing a limb." Addressing his viewers, Thomas adds: “My challenge to you is to take those frustrations and struggles and do the best you can, and turn them into a challenge. Something that you can overcome."

“If I can play ‘Duality’ by Slipknot with just one hand, what’s your excuse?”

Now, if you thought all of those awesome fills on one hand were amazing... just take a look what Jack can do on the bass. Here's a perfect cover of Rancid's "Maxwell Murder," again on only one hand.

Since the accident in 2015 and subsequent recovery, Thomas has performed and produced for numerous bands as well as his own in his local music scene. Keep up with Jack's story right here on YouTube.
