Oscar attendees won't have to wear masks while cameras are rolling

This year’s Oscar attendees won’t be required to wear face masks during the live broadcast portions of the ceremony, according to a report.

The event’s organizers made the announcement during a Zoom meeting Monday morning, Variety first reported.

The ceremony “is being treated as a TV/film production, [so] masks are not required for people on camera,” the outlet explained.

Attendees will be asked to wear face coverings off-camera and during commercial breaks, the outlet noted.

The ceremony itself will reportedly be capped at 170 people.
