“I like Thanksgiving better than Christmas,” Reba said. “Less stress, easier travel plans because of [the] weather. I love Halloween, I love Easter, I love Valentine’s Day. Nahhh, I don’t love Valentine’s Day too much, but I do like Halloween because it’s mischievous,” she added with a laugh.

After Rob asked Reba if she likes cooking for holidays and if she’s doing the turkey this year, she responded, “No! That’s why I like Thanksgiving, I don’t have to do any of the cooking.”

As an icon not only in Country music, but in all of music, Reba’s advice holds significant weight. As she’s about to embark on a tour with all-female openers, Rob + Holly asked Reba what advice she would give to younger female artists that are in the early stages of their career. “I just go back to the same thing that people told me in the beginning,” Reba says.

“From Barbara Stanwyck, to my mother, to Mel Tillis, to The Statler Brothers, Conway Twitty, do treat this as a business, because it is. You can have the time of your life after the show or after you take care of business.”

“But definitely take care of business,” Reba added. “Take care of your money, cause as easy and fast as you think you’re getting it, it can go just as fast out as it did coming in. When you are working, respect everybody else's time, show up, be prepared, and know what you’re doing.”

She then brought up Dolly Parton as an example of a person you want to emulate not just in business, but in life. “If you watch Dolly Parton walk into a room of extras, musicians, people that are working on the video or in the TV show, she’s equally nice and sweet to everyone,” she said. “That’s the way we should treat everyone in everyday life.”
