Sure, it's been over two decades since the Red Hot Chili Peppers dropped their beloved 1999 album, Californication, and now, finally, the hard work that developer Miquel Camps Orteza put into creating a full-fledged game based on its title track has arrived!
Listen to your favorite music now on Audacy curated for fans, by fans like Red Hot Chili Peppers Radio, and more!
Fans will certainly remember the video game-esque music video that the band put out for the now-iconic fourth single and sixth track from their 1999 seventh studio album, Californication.
If you've ever wanted to immerse yourself in the land of RHCP, now is your chance -- and it's free! Download a Windows PC or macOS version now at Itch.io. Orteza's Californication (the game) recreates the look and feel of the early-Playstation-days scenes shown throughout the song's video while giving players a chance to dip, dive, and dodge through the wild world he created. "I have selected some epic moments from the video and turned into 7 levels each one with different game mechanics," Orteza says on the game's download page. "I hope you like this game."
Of course, there's no actual music from the Peppers in the game (lawyers, bro) but what's stopping you from jamming to Audacy's Red Hot Chili Peppers Radio while you play? Absolutely, nothing. So check out the game's trailer right HERE, as well as some screenshots below, and start streaming.
Now, back to our current decade, hear the new single "Black Summer" from the band's upcoming studio album, UNLIMITED LOVE, out April 1, featuring new music for the first time since 2006 from Anthony Kiedis, Flea, Chad Smith, and John Frusciante!
