Any way you look back at Woodstock '99; all of the fires, assaults, price-gouging, and mudslinging likely become much more a part of the story than the actual music and exceptional artists who were gathered. Just so you know, the same goes for Sheryl Crow.

Speaking with Dana Carvey and David Spade on their Fly on the Wall podcast, Sheryl remembered back to that wonderful, mud-soaked time, saying she watched part of a documentary on the subject while on a plane a couple of days ago, but "had to turn it off," because, "It was so disturbing, and I remember it. I remember how awful it was."
Sheryl performed at the doomed 1999 concert, which in her mind was "debauched from the beginning, because we were on the first day. Addressing all that "mud," she says, "They were already throwing s*** from the outhouses that were not set up right, that were leaking." Yeah, eew.
Here's more eew for you: "At one point, some landed on my hand while I was playing bass during ‘My Favorite Mistake,’ Sheryl admits. "That’s when we stopped. We played about four songs, and I remember saying, ‘Nah, not gonna do it.’" David Spade adds, "When you watch how everyone went bananas. I can’t believe who would stay, it was so bad."
"It is interesting that people did stay. Almost felt like they couldn’t leave," says Crow.
