In celebration of the new album, Thomas joined Audacy’s Superstar Power Hour with Katie Neal all week long. Before wrapping up the feature, he let us in on a few exclusive deets… Like how he was inspired to write the album after finding a pair of old cowboy boots.
“If you know me, you know I’ve been on the sneaker train for a while,” Thomas shared. “One day I was walking into a meet and greet and I saw my cowboy boots I’ve had since high school sittin’ in the back of my bus and I put them on… I think it was kind of a shock to a lot of people, but I just felt different, it felt right, it felt normal.”
Sure glad he slipped on those boots because Rhett credits the feelings of nostalgia he got from that experience for the inspiration behind his 5th studio project, which includes an entire second disc coming later this year.
“There was just a shift in me early on in 2019 where I just woke up one day decided that I wanted to live a little bit more simple and really wanted to put some things into perspective,” he shared. “Not that the boots did that, they were just kind of a reminder… kind of where I came from and the kind of music that I love.”
It’s clear to fans that Rhett has the right perspective in life, as he prioritizes spending time with his family and three young daughters, even if it means having his nails painted.
“It never ends,” Rhett replied when asked how often his daughters play dress up. “We’re painting nails three times a day, mine get painted sometimes. I’ve just kind of embraced the life of a girl dad.” Love it!
