“I’ve done it all. So now the thing that drives me is creating opportunities and platforms for others to do the same,” Cannon tells Audacy's DJ Buck. Aside from his television gigs, Cannon is working on a new R&B project titled Raw N B The Explicit Tape. Also, he recently joined the Audacy family as a host for NY’s throwback station 94.7 The Block. In the latest Audacy Check In, Cannon talked about how he balances all his endeavors.

Although the media personality spends most of his 24 hours working, he believes in energy management rather than time management. “Things that aren't worth my energy aren't worth my time,” Cannon admits. “If It’s not going to have a strong return in terms of building myself up or my family up, then there’s no point in being involved in it.”
Cannon also rediscovered his love for music, particularly playing the piano. “I’m a child of Hip Hop but I’m a musician. I was born in the church. Gospel music is probably the first music I’ve ever heard. So I’m a strong blender of Gospel and Hip Hop,” said Cannon. “I have an extensive library of Gospel. But then I came up through Hip Hop. It’s in my DNA,” he continued.
When asked about his all-time favorite Hip Hop album, Cannon says Biggie Smalls’ Life After Death is the ultimate classic with no skips. “You know every song. I don’t think that’s ever been done before in music. And that’s probably a great capsule of that era that we like to call the golden era of Hip Hop,” Cannon expressed.
And when it comes to New York radio, Cannon is enthusiastic about connecting with listeners residing in “the home of the culture,” mainly because of the energy and vibration found only in New York City. “Radio is the most intimate form of entertainment. You have a real connection,” said Cannon. “The people feel like they know you, and they can talk to you… I’m as raw and as vulnerable as I can possibly can be.”
Shockingly, the TV host describes the contrast between radio and television as entirely different. “When I’m doing TV, I’m shiny. I got the suits on and the diamond shoes. When I’m making music it’s the same thing over and over. It's polished, it's put together. [With] radio this is who Nick is, this is who you get.”
