Is Weezer your new favorite metal band? They may not have gone the route of full blown hardcore headbangers, but their new track “I Need Some of That” certainly leans into the metal side of the band.

“I Need Some of That” marks the latest release from Weezer’s upcoming fifteenth studio album Van Weezer. The song opens up with an epic hard rock/metal tinged instrumental before dropping into the verse.

“When I was just/ A little punk/ Daydreaming of my escape/ Listening to Aerosmith/ Later on I will call my mom/ Now I'm plugging in to a Marshall stack/ I can be anything I want,” Rivers Cuomo sings in the opening verse.

Van Weezer is set for a May 7 release and comes just months after Weezer released their fourteenth studio album OK Human.

Not that we’re complaining, but what’s with the abundance of album releases from the band? Rivers Cuomo offered a simple explanation back when OK Human came out.

"The next idea is a four-album set, where each album corresponds to one of the four seasons," Cuomo told Apple Music's Strombo Show. “Each album has a very different vibe and lyrical theme.”
