After writing the song, “Never Say Never,” a few years back with Chase McGill and Jesse Alexander, Cole Swindell patiently waited to find the right duet partner. After a long wait, Cole struck gold when he discovered newcomer, Lainey Wilson, and according to Swindell, she was well worth the wait.
“When we wrote it, we knew it had to be a duet,” said Cole of the new single. “We knew we had to find that special person, the right person for the song. I’m just so thankful to have Lainey on it, she nailed it.”
Wilson, who didn’t have to hear more than the first verse before agreeing to lend her vocals is clearly just as excited to be on the song as Swindell is to have her.
“’Never Say Never’ tells a story about a relationship that I’m pretty sure a lot of us have been in,” Lainey said about the song. “The kind of relationship where you know it’s not good for ya, but you can’t help [but] just go back.”
