New fans and followers since Yung Gravy's breakout in 2017 are about to get treated to a performance at Audacy's Oceanfront Concerts this weekend in Virginia Beach. With that in mind, we asked the Minnesota-born rapper what kind of vibe can be expected at his shows, and spoke more about his latest single, "Betty (Get Money)," as well as the track's wild video.

"It's high energy," Gravy says about his live performances, but that can absolutely translate over to his newest single. "I have sort of a cult fanbase," he explains. "When I do ticketed shows it's really like, every single word is being screamed... When I do festivals, I'd like to think I have pretty good stage presence and do a good job of getting people hyped up. When I opened for Limp Bizkit, that was a crowd that didn't really know me, and I've done a decent amount of festivals and colleges... I bring the heat; I bring the energy, and it's good."

Speaking of heat, there was quite a bit of work that went into the creation of his latest single, "Betty (Get Money)," aside from the recreation of the well-known Rick Astley sample, "basically the only other change I really had to make was cleaning up some lyrics. I had to change some lyrics, and I really like the way it came out," he says.

To add some extra spice to the single's video, as Gravy likes to do, he decided to include a few animals this time around -- a kangaroo and a chicken, to be specific. "We didn't have a lot of time... we happened to be at this bar and met this woman who has a bunch of very well-trained animals." In the beginning classroom scene, he explains, "it was supposed to be sort of like my assistant, but uh, it basically just became a f***in' cute kangaroo jumping around. She had a chicken too; I was like, 'oh yeah, f***in' bring the chicken while you're at it!'"

"Right when she mentioned 'I have animals,'" Gravy says, "I asked: 'Do you have a kangaroo or a wallaby?' Actually, the first video I ever did was 'Mr. Clean.' I was in college, I met these guys... my music was kind of poppin', but it wasn't big. They recognized my voice and realized I was this rapper that hadn't shown my face and who I was... and wanted to shoot a video. I said, 'You know what? Let's do it, but it's gotta be sick. So what we need is a jet ski, a horse, and a car wash.' It all came together pretty great."
