An Amazon delivery driver saved the day - and it wasn't just from delivering packages on time.

Sean Campbell told NBC News affiliate WESH that he knew he had to do something when he heard screams while he was taking his normal delivery route.

"I heard the screaming, and when you hear something like that, you have to go to it," Campbell told the outlet.

Upon seeing the burning home, Campbell immediately sprung into action, noticing that the elderly woman in the residence was able to escape with the help of a neighbor, but learning that the elderly man was still inside.

He broke into the front door to help the man, urging him to ditch his walker in favor of a swift exit.

"He was in the kitchen, you know, with his walker just standing there," Campbell explained. "I don't think he really knew what was going on. I was like, 'Sir, c'mon. I need to help you. C'mon, let's get out."

"He was trying to grab his walker," Campbell said. "I was like, 'No, we got to move...you've got to see another day!"

Campbell and the elderly man were able to make their way to safety, and local firefighters were able to rescue the family dog.

The fire apparently started in the garage of the home, and while the home is not livable, the couple is living with a grandson nearby.

After the incident occurred, the couple's son, Tim West, appeared at the scene where he learned of the heroic actions of the Amazon driver who just happened to be in the area at the time of the blaze.

"It was fantastic [that] he was both here and able to go inside, and brave enough to go inside," West told the outlet. "We really appreciate that."

Amazon spokesperson Deborah Bass told People, "We love hearing stories about drivers being everyday heroes for our customers and the communities they serve. Everyone at Amazon was touched by Sean going above and beyond to help someone in need, and we’re excited to celebrate and thank him for his great efforts."
