The 7 Best Bars Near Dodger Stadium

Sure, you could shell out $20 for a few rounds at Dodger Stadium (and you should probably pick up at least one to wash down some helmet nachos), but you might be happier with your drinks if you set aside some time before a game to visit one of our favorite bars nearby. Within walking distance of the stadium, there are dives for cheap cans and unruly crowds, craft breweries for high-end drafts, and even cocktail bars for a little variety. If you can’t squeeze in a pregame, you can also head to any of these spots after the game to debrief with your friends over a few more drinks.

The Short Stop

With a name like The Short Stop, it should come as no surprise that this Echo Park dive has become a go-to pregame spot. The bar is always open at least two hours before the first pitch and it keeps popping well after the final out, staying open until 2 a.m. every night. The bar is about a 10 minute walk from the stadium, so expect the place to blow up exactly 10 minutes after the game ends. It’s dark, loud, raucous—everything you want from a true fan’s bar.

Mohawk Bend

Part of the beer dream team Artisanal Brewers Collective, Mohawk Bend offers food and drinks with SoCal pride. Many, if not all, of the 72 beer taps (and 6 wine taps) at any time feature brands brewed in the Golden State, while the kitchen makes pizzas and other grub with locally sourced ingredients. The space, a retrofitted vaudeville theater, has plenty of room for you and a few pals, even when it does fill up with every drinker from here to Silverlake.

Imperial Western Beer Company

The epic beer bar inside Union Station was practically made for Dodger fans. The Dodger Stadium Express shuttle departs just outside the station every 10 minutes, so you can continue your pregame up until the last second. Many of the beers on offer cost less than $7, with a number of craft brews going for just $5. Whether you’re looking for a session IPA to pass the afternoon or want to load up on something heavier before the game, Imperial Western has your back.

Highland Park Brewery

The Chinatown location of this brewery (which was, in fact, originally established in Highland Park) provides plenty of space for your whole crew in an expansive warehouse just minutes from Dodger Stadium. All the beer is good, and it comes in a wide range of styles from dark lagers to hazy IPAs to barrel-aged saisons. Plus the brewery features a full kitchen to tide you over until you can get your hands on a Dodger Dog.

Button Mash

If you’re riding an adrenaline high after an extra-inning nail-biter, head to Button Mash for some post-game activities. The bar features an array of classic arcade games along with a ton of craft beers and it’s open until midnight (2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays), giving you plenty of time to crack the leaderboard on your favorite machine long after the 27th out.

Sunset Beer Company

Whether you’re stopping by for a drink before the game or picking up a six-pack to cater your afterparty, Sunset Beer Company has a lot of options for any occasion. You could spend hours at Sunset Beer Company drinking through the extensive selection from the superstore-like beer mart and the bar’s own tap list. The selection is so good you may find yourself watching the game from the bar TV as you enjoy yet another round. While there’s no kitchen, you can BYO food.

Melody Lounge

A sister bar of The Short Stop, Melody Lounge sports an entirely different vibe from the rest of the spots on this list. The bar focuses on craft beer from the West Coast and quality craft cocktails, all served in an elegant space beneath a flock of red lanterns with fantastic vinyl spinning in the background. If you prefer spirits to beer or you’re looking for somewhere to destress after multiple extra innings, find Melody Lounge just minutes away from Dodger Stadium.
