WASHINGTON (WCBS 880) — First Lady Jill Biden is undergoing a procedure Thursday to remove an object that became lodged in her foot while in Hawaii over the weekend.

The first lady apparently stepped on something while at the beach prior to her two official events in Hawaii last weekend and the object has been in her left foot ever since.

Michael LaRosa, the first lady's spokesman, said President Joe Biden will join his wife at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, where the procedure will take place.

The first lady made a stop in Hawaii after attending the Tokyo Olympics. During her trip, she visited a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination site in Waipahu and joined military families for a barbecue at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.
