Naming a child is one of the most important tasks new parents have when their kid is born.

Not only are they stuck with that name forever, but the first part of their life can end up being very rough if they have a name that’s easy to make fun of.

That’s why in 2021, people have stopped naming their kid “Karen.”

Thanks to memes and viral videos, the name “Karen” has become synonymous with negativity. Now, the name has reached its lowest point ever on the most common baby names list, dropping 171 spots in the last year.

According to Fox News, Karen dropped from the 660th most popular name to the 831st slot.

While the name has dropped in popularity, it was once a very commonly used baby name. Last year only 325 baby girls were named, but in 1965 there were reportedly 33,000 Karen’s born.

The origins of “Karen” being used as an adjective may still be unknown, but it seems that description isn’t going away any time soon.
