That is one record that may stay put for a while.
For some reason, people wear their ability to handle spicy food as a badge of honor. While some are not able to consume extreme spices easily, others can literally take the heat without issue.
When it comes to spicy foods, no one can outdo Mike Jack, who recently broke the Guinness World Record after eating three Carolina Reaper Peppers in 9.73 seconds.
In a video that has since gone viral, Jack breaks the record after eating the hottest pepper in the world. The Carolina Reaper Pepper has a Scoville Heat Unit of 1.5 million to 2.2 million.
“I’ve built up a high tolerance to spice over the years, so, honestly, I didn’t really feel them until it was all over, I’d say most people are going to feel them right away, but for me, the heat came after they were already down the hatch,” said Jack.
According to Jack, his recovery time was about 8 to 12 hours after completing the challenge. While it clearly wasn’t fun afterwards, it was worth it to be the new record holder.
