Man Wears Giant Cardboard Circle to Keep Distance Amid Coronavirus Outbreak

Drastic times call for drastic measures.

A man in Italy employed some impressive arts and crafts skills in order to keep people a safe distance away amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Spotted in Rome’s Testaccio market, the gentleman could be seen walking around wearing a giant yellow circular disc at his waist that was attached by two shoulder straps, reported the New York Post.

In a video shared to social media, the man is asked why he’s wearing the skirt-like contraption and responds, “For coronavirus.”

He also held a long wand used to pick up litter so as to not have to touch anything with his hands.

Italy has been extremely hard hit by the COVID-19 outbreak and has locked down the entire country until April 3rd.

All public gatherings have been banned and citizens have been instructed to “limit social contact as much as possible.” Schools and universities have also been closed.

In addition, bars and restaurants have been shuttered with only supermarkets and pharmacies allowed to remain open. Those that are open must ensure that customers maintain a distance of three feet apart until March 25th.

Hence the crafty man’s use of the cardboard circle to ensure the mandated social distancing.

Italy has reported over 15,000 positive cases of coronavirus and at least 1000 deaths.
