“They are a little bit shocked, traumatized, but thank God, most important, is no one got hurt, no customers, nothing. And thank God the truck just hit the corner, not the building.”

That’s what Buon Appetito Ristorante & Pizzeria’s Petrit Marku told NBC Connecticut after the eatery had its patio smashed by an 18-wheeler early Thursday morning.
Fortunately, the crash occurred around 7:30 a.m. when the restaurant was closed and no one was dining, though family members who live above the restaurant were home and thankfully uninjured.
Connecticut State Police said the driver of the truck was taken to the hospital for evaluation, but he was able to get himself out of the vehicle, according to first responders.
While no official cause was given, the driver reportedly said, “I fell asleep.”
