Following heavy rains and rising water levels, firefighters made these important patriotic rescues, retrieving two flags from a flagpole that were quickly sinking.
The Lake Travis Fire Department bravely reached for the state flag of Texas and the American flag before they were completely submerged. The crews were in the area conducting hazard assessments when they found the wayward flags.
The selfless crewmembers, mindful of preserving our country's symbols of freedom, saved and folded both items before getting them back to shore .
