Uber released its 10th annual Lost & Found Index on Tuesday, highlighting the most commonly forgotten items and some of the strangest things passengers left behind in rides over the past year.

Phones topped the list as the most commonly forgotten item, with more than one million reported lost. Wallets, luggage, keys, headphones, clothing, passports, glasses, jewelry, and laptops rounded out the top 10. New York City once again ranked as the most forgetful city, with July 17 named the single most forgetful day of the year.

The index also spotlighted the 50 most unique items left in Ubers nationwide. Topping that quirky list were dentures with only two teeth, breast milk, human hair, a Donny Osmond group picture, an ankle monitor, “420” donuts, George Washington hospital discharge papers, a sack of marbles, an oxygen tank, and gold mouth grillz. Other unusual finds included a brand-new mini fridge, a live fish, a mannequin, pelvis implants, and a package of live butterflies.

Uber’s report, which draws from millions of lost item reports submitted through the app, offers a lighthearted look at rider behavior while reminding people to check the backseat before exiting. The company provides a straightforward process for recovering items: riders can report lost belongings directly in the app under “Activity” and connect with their driver.

This marks a decade of the annual index, which has become a popular cultural snapshot of American life on the move. Uber says the vast majority of reported items are successfully returned to their owners when reported promptly.

The findings come as Uber continues to expand its services across the U.S., including in major markets like Dallas-Fort Worth. While most forgotten items are everyday essentials, the unusual discoveries continue to surprise even longtime company officials.
