The New York Islanders open up their Conference Finals series with the Tampa Bay Lightning on Sunday and at least one bettor is extremely confident in their Stanley Cup win odds. BetMGM released some data on where bettors are putting their money on the NHL playoffs, with one major bet on the Islanders to go all the way.

A $5,000 bet on New York to hoist the Cup at +2000 would mean a hefty $100,000 payout for one BetMGM customer. The Islanders opened at +2200 to win the Stanley Cup. Their odds before the playoffs began were +1600 and they are now at +600. They’re also getting 3.8 percent of the tickets and 5.7 percent of the handle to win the Cup.
The Islanders and the Vegas Golden Knights to win the Stanley Cup are the biggest liabilities at BetMGM, after Vegas defeated the Colorado Avalanche in Round 2 of these playoffs.
“The Avalanche were BetMGM’s biggest liability to win the Stanley Cup,” BetMGM Sports Trader Christian Cipollini said. “The sportsbook was pleased with Vegas winning their Round 2 matchup against Colorado. The Golden Knights are now the betting favorites to win the Cup and the book’s biggest remaining liability.”
The Golden Knights opened at +1000 to win the Stanley Cup. Their odds before the playoffs were +550 and now they are at +115. Vegas is getting 12.5 percent of the tickets to win it and 13.2 percent of the handle. And they're getting ready to take on the Montreal Canadiens in the Conference Finals on Monday.
Keep an eye on these odds as the playoffs progress to see if the Islanders make this a year to remember for this big bettor.
