Dolphins vs Chiefs (-4.5)

The reigning Super Bowl champion Chiefs will be home on Saturday when they open the playoffs against the Miami Dolphins. Kansas City is the home team despite Miami finishing the season with a better record. The Chiefs are also listed as 4.5-point favorites at home, which makes sense given Kansas City’s playoff record with Patrick Mahomes and 21-14 win over the Dolphins earlier this season.

Of course, there is far more concern about the Chiefs this season than at any point in the last five years. But despite some struggles and disappointing results, they’ve won three of their last four games heading into the playoffs. However, Kansas City was just 4-4 against the spread at home this season, losing some of the team’s past dominance at Arrowhead. On the other hand, the Dolphins head into the playoffs after back-to-back losses and a long list of injury concerns. Considering those injuries and Miami’s 1-5 record this season against teams in the playoffs, it’s hard to envision the Dolphins pulling off the upset. Look for Mahomes to elevate his game as needed and give the Chiefs a comfortable home victory.
