Normalcy has returned.

Many were dismayed when Cris Collinsworth seemingly retired his trademark slide during the NBC Sunday Night Football open. It made sense, seeing as Collinsworth is no longer paired with longtime broadcast partner Al Michaels, who bolted for Amazon in the offseason.

But ahead of the Chiefs-Buccaneers Week 4 primetime game, Collinsworth brought it back.

After Mike Tirico gave his monologue, centered largely on the devastation of Hurricane Ian on the state of Florida, he brought in Collinsworth, who entered with the familiar slide.

The fact that it returned adds some intrigue to the situation. Did he retire it but, maybe in a nod to Tom Brady, decided to bring it back for the Bucs game? Perhaps it was just an old habits die hard situation. Maybe it’s back indefinitely. Collinsworth himself might be the only one who knows for sure.

There should be some more clarity on that for the Week 5 Sunday NIght Game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens.
