If a Philadelphia sports fan makes the local news, you can almost guarantee they will take a shot at a player from one of their teams.

The latest example came on Monday when Eugene Bozzi, a Philadelphia native who lives in Florida, joined the CBS 3 in Philadelphia to talk about a viral video of him catching an alligator with a trash can.

But Bozzi took the opportunity to take a shot at disgruntled 76ers star Ben Simmons.

“I just jumped into action and said, ‘you know what, I’m not gonna be Ben Simmons. I’m gonna get me this basket,’” he said.

Simmons, who is holding out of Sixers training camp in a demand to be traded, has been a frustrating player for Sixers fans to watch over the last few years due to his immense talent but poor outside shooting and tendency to disappear in big games or when the game is on the line.

Bozzi rose to the occasion, though, and “got that basket” by capturing the alligator in his driveway.

His slight at Simmons comes a couple years after a local man appeared on the same CBS affiliate in an interview about a house fire and went viral after he said they were catching children thrown out the window “unlike Agholor,” — a shot at then-Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor, whose dropped several key passes in a game earlier that day.

Who knows what player will be next to receive the viral scorn of a Philadelphia sports fan?
