You can take the Gronk out of Foxborough, but you can’t take the Foxborough out of him.

On Kay Adam’s FanDuel TV program, “Up & Adams,” Rob Gronkowski responded to recent comments from Aaron Rodgers about his playing future. The Packers’ quarterback said he feels like he can still play at a high level, and could win MVP again in the “right situation.”

should the patriots make a run at Aaron Rodgers?

Gronkowski, who’s won four Super Bowls, says Rodgers is focusing on the wrong accomplishment.

“I’m totally fine with everything he said, except one major part, and that’s the MVP again,” said Gronkowski. “It’s ‘I think I could win another Super Bowl,’ and then that would’ve been totally fine. Bro, why are you thinking MVP? Don’t you want Super Bowls? Super Bowls are five times greater than an MVP award.”

Gronkowski won three Super Bowls with the Patriots before taking off the 2019 season. He returned in 2020, and promptly won his fourth ring with Tom Brady.

Rodgers, meanwhile, faltered once again in a must-win game for the Packers in their regular-season finale, losing to the already-eliminated Lions on “Sunday Night Football.” His career playoff record is 12-10, and he’s only won Super Bowl … back in 2010.

If Rodgers truly wants to be an all-time great, Gronk says he needs at least one more.

“We all know that you won the MVP a few times, but everyone would know even more how many more Super Bowls you’ve won than MVPs. It should be Super Bowls. You should never be thinking the MVP,” he said.

Gronkowski may have tired of Bill Belichick’s austerity, but he kept the mindset.
