It’s official: Kyrie Irving is no longer a Brooklyn Nets.
The Nets traded the star point guard to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Spencer Dinwiddie, Dorian Finney-Smith, a first-round pick and multiple second-round picks, per Shams Charania. The first-round pick is for 2029 while the second-round picks are for 2027 and 2029, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.
The Nets also included Markieff Morris in the deal.
This ends a tumultuous four-year tenure with the Nets that was marred with injuries and controversy, culminating with Irving requesting a trade on Friday after the two sides failed to negotiate a contract extension.
He will now team up with Luka Doncic and join a Mavs team that entered Sunday in sixth place in the Western Conference.
Irving, 30, is in the midst of an All-Star season. He is averaging 27.1 points, 5.3 assists and 5.1 rebounds per game.
Whether or not the Mavericks are willing to commit to Irving long term is still unknown.
