Round 1 of the NFL Draft on Thursday night was a wild one. It seemed slow at times, with the long breaks between picks and Kings of Leon and whatnot, but waiting for which prop bets would hit or miss kept viewers on the edge of their seats.
The Draft is a prop-betting bonanza and with all the picks in and bets cashed for this round, let’s take a look at some of the notable BetMGM prop bet results from the eventful first round.
Odds for Trevor Lawrence to be the first overall pick opened at -250 and closed at a whopping -10000. A notable bet on this prop was $50,000 to win $4,000 at -1250.
Zach Wilson to be the second overall pick opened at -400, before closing at a longer -2500.
For third overall pick, Trey Lance opened at +160 and closed -140. This was also the most-bet prop.
Odds for Ja’Marr Chase to be the first wide receiver drafted opened at -350 and closed at -1250. One big bet on this prop was $10,000 to win $800 at -1250.
Kyle Pitts was the No. 4 pick in Round 1 and the Under 5.5 on his draft position opened at +110. It closed at -300.
Odds that the Chicago Bears would draft Justin Fields opened at +1600 and closed at +900. Notably, only 7% of tickets were on the Bears to draft Fields. His draft position Over/Under opened at 4.5 and closed at 7.5. He was taken as the No. 11 pick in the Draft.
The New England Patriots took Mac Jones with the No. 15 pick and the odds were +400 for the Patriots to draft Jones. Also, 62% of tickets and 73% of the handle was on the Patriots to draft a quarterback first.
The Dallas Cowboys were +700 to draft Micah Parsons. Parsons was the 12th pick in the Draft, and his position opened at 11.5 and closed at 13.5.
The Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Najee Harris with the 24th pick. His draft position Over/Under odds opened at 29.5 before closing at 24.5. His odds to be the first running back drafted opened at -125 and moved to -200. The odds the Steelers would draft a running back with this pick went from +200 to -140.
The Jacksonville Jaguars drafted Travis Etienne with the No. 25 pick. His draft position Over/Under opened at 32.5 and closed at 30.5. The odds the Jaguars would take a running back with their second pick were +700.
The Over/Under for running backs taken in the first round was 1.5, with Najee Harris and Travis Etienne chosen in back-to-back picks. The Over 4.5 for the number of wide receivers taken in the first round moved from -160 to -400. There were five wide receivers drafted in this round. For the number of quarterbacks taken in Round 1, the Over/Under was 5.5. The Under hit when only five quarterbacks were taken in this round.
The Draft continues with Round 2 on Friday night and promises just as much prop betting intrigue as the first round.
