Odell Beckham Jr.'s tenure with the Giants ended in a memorable breakup, but he doesn't think it should define his entire time in New York.
OBJ, apparently watching the NFL Draft like the rest of us on Thursday night, took to Twitter to sound off on a montage aired during ESPN's broadcast that he felt unfairly depicted him as the symbol of the Giants' futility.
Specifically, the clip, which aired during a preview segment examining the Giants' draft strategy moments before their first-round pick was announced, showed the infamous net incident on the sidelines of MetLife Stadium in 2016 -- when a frustrated Beckham slammed a kicker's practice net with his helmet, only to have it bounce back and hit him in the head.
Beckham didn't appreciate having one of his lowlights dredged up.
"I love how many positive things we could be showing during these times and especially during the draft where these young men are at their dream stage," Beckham said. "Yet y'all still like to use one moment of me and the kickin net!!!"
"Don't even make no sense," he added. "The draft got nothin to do wit me. I got nothin to do wit the Giants (luv y'all and thank u for everything).
"It's funny how 'I ain't sh-t' yet I be one of the only people to be on every montage and every other segment when u need a headline."
OBJ is coming off a wee bit hypersensitive here, but he has a point. Of all the images that could have been used to convey the Giants' ineptitude, the net clip was obvious and easy. Then again, what else would one expect from ESPN?
In any event, the Giants and OBJ remain inextricably linked long after their separation.
