Jerry Jones is acutely aware of the damage Brock Purdy can do.

The 49ers quarterback has been nails for San Francisco since taking over after Jimmy Garoppolo got hurt, winning all seven of his starts thus far. Not bad for the last pick in the 2022 Draft, and now he has a chance to bring the 49ers to the NFC Championship.

They’ll first have to get past the Dallas Cowboys, a team that just walloped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They did a good job limiting Tom Brady, who attempted 66 passes in the game, but the proverbial foot won’t be coming off the gas now that they’re facing a far more inexperienced signal-caller.

“Well I just see an inordinate rookie and inordinate play in his ability to convert,” Jones said Friday in his weekly appearance on the “K&C Masterpiece.” “His presence, I saw him get out of the pocket a little bit, avoid a potential problem with a tackler -- and then just came out of that like he had been doing it 15 years and made the play this past weekend.

“That’s exceptional, so we’ve got to realize that we just can’t (think) this is an inexperienced player, let’s play accordingly.”

Purdy’s mobility has become increasingly talked about, with John Lynch even admitting he didn’t realize just how athletic the quarterback was. He might not be Justin Fields, but his ability to dance around adds more pressure on opposing defenses.

San Francisco ended the Cowboys’ season last year thanks largely to their rushing game, gashing Dallas' defense. Jones admitted that loss made them rethink their defensive front, and now they’ll face a 49ers team that has even more talent on the offensive side of the ball than they did last year.

So whether it’s because Purdy, Christian McCaffrey or any other player from the 49ers’ impressive collection of weapons, the Cowboys will have their hands full Sunday.
