Saquon Barkley is the latest athlete to get into the cryptocurrency game.

The New York Giants running back announced on Anthony Pompliano’s “The Best Business Show” that he will be taking 100% of his endorsement deal money in Bitcoin going forward.

Barkley believes Bitcoin can help him create generational wealth — an opportunity he recognized when he knew he was good enough to be drafted to the NFL in college.

“You see wher you are able to go on the draft board and you know that you can break that curse in your family, of creating wealth in your family,” he said on the show, per thestreet.com. “You start thinking what can I do and what is the safest way. Obviously, I want to be more than a football player.”

Barkley also added that this past season helped put some things in perspective for him as he missed most of the year after tearing his ACL in a Week 2 game against the Bears.

“When you see the KD’s, the LeBrons and Bradys of the world and you want to create generational wealth, you can’t do that with the sport that I play and the position that I play and coming off of injuries,” he said. “When you sit out of football for a whole year you realize that this game could be taken away form you.”

Barkley, 24, is entering the fourth year on his rookie contract. The Giants picked up his fifth-year option in April, but the running back will likely eye an extension over the next season to help secure him financially.
