Atlanta Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos met with members of the media yesterday to announce the team had agreed to a two-year extension with manager Brian Snitker. The move comes as an early birthday present for the Skipper, who turns 63 on Wednesday.
However, looking towards the offseason, the Braves GM said the payroll will increase for the 2019 season. Outside of the obvious bullpen help that is needed, should the team consider adding a high-profile player? Perhaps, former Washington Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper?
Hugh Douglas of the Morning Show has one question some Braves fans are probably asking when considering entering into a bidding war for the big-name free agent:
"What kind of dynamic does Bryce Harper bring to the locker room? You're talking about the chemistry of a young team." Hugh said. "You bring in a player of that caliber--how would your leadership that you already have (in Freddie Freeman) handle having a guy like Bryce Harper in the locker room?"
John Fricke has another concern when it comes to the Braves potentially acquiring Harper: the money.
"I would be shocked, sitting here in our seat Hugh Douglas, if he's a member of the Atlanta Braves. I don't think there's one percent chance he's going to be here; I don't think the Braves are going to pony up the money. I think somebody is going to grossly overpay for him."
Let us know what you think: Do you want the Braves to enter a bidding war for Bryce Harper?
