The Houston Texans already have at least one win this season — inviting the Uvalde High School football teams as guests for their Week 1 game against the Indianapolis Colts.
The Texans and supermarket chain H-E-B are teaming up to provide the Uvalde team transportation to NRG Stadium, where they will get to spend the day in suites watching the Texans.
The Texans will wear “Uvalde Strong” decals on their helmets, too, to recognize the 19 children and two teachers who were killed in a May 24 shooting at Robb Elementary School.
Members of the Texans spent time with the football team last week and surprised them new Nike uniforms as it prepared for its home opener on Friday night, which they won in dramatic fashion on a late fourth quarter drive to defeat C.C. Winn High School, 34-28
CEO Cal McNair, head coach Lovie Smith and linebackers Christian Kirksey and Kamu Gregier-Hill were among those who visited the team.
