Raise your hand if you thought Vernon Davis would be making highlights this season.

Yeah, didn’t think so.

The 35-year-old Washington Redskins tight end was starting on Sunday in place of Jordan Reed, who was out with a concussion, and made his presence felt immediately.

Davis caught a pass from quarterback Case Keenum in the first quarter against the Philadelphia Eagles and then did something totally unexpected: he hurdled Eagles cornerback Ronald Darby.

That alone was enough to turn some heads, but it didn’t end there. Davis, still on his feet, was attempted to be brought down by safety Andrew Sendejo but he was able to shake him off and had nothing but the open field in front of him.

Davis motored down the field for another 30 yards until he was in the end zone to give the Redskins an early lead.

It was an emotional moment for Davis, too. As the tight end made his way back to the sideline and removed his helmet, he could be seen in tears. Davis’ grandfather had passed away on Saturday, so the tight end of was playing with a heavy heart.

Meanwhile, the clip of Davis hurdling Darby had left many fans on social media in awe that the 35-year-old was still making big plays, and possibly that he was still in the league at all.

Last year he had just 25 receptions for two touchdowns, but is definitely making the most of his time on the field so far in 2019.
