Richmond, Va (Newsradiowrva.com) - Another sign that traffic has been greatly reduced during the coronavirus pandemic: AAA says between March 25th and April 24th, crashes in Virginia dropped 78%. The statistics are based off of preliminary DMV data.
However, AAA says crashes involving bikes only dropped 31%. The difference leads them to believe there is increased bike/car interaction, especially as people seek to get "social distance respecting" exercise. AAA is asking drivers to be aware of more bikes on the road, and for bicyclists to wear bright clothing and helmets.
